Successful Business Website Design - 5 Pillars To Build It
Building a successful business website is neither very easy nor very difficult. The only condition is that you stick to the basic rules that decide the utility and success of the website. The success of a business website is based on the following 5 pillars.
Menus:
The layout of the business website should be simple and very easy to understand. The menu should be so simple that a new comer should be able to easily navigate through the website and access the information needs with utmost comfort. The drop down menus that are multi tired can at times confuse the visitor and so should be avoided. The important links that link to the final pages of the product or service should be highlighted.
Navigation:
The visitor should be able to easily find links to pages pertaining to add to cart and payment of bill or transfer of money. These links should be present on every page that describes the products or services. The visitor should be able to find from the home page that the thing he/she is interested in is available on the website. Nothing can be more embarrassing for a web designer than a visitor who visits ...
... the website but does not buy anything just because he/she could not find its presence on the website (this despite the product being mentioned in the other web pages)
Splash Pages:
These are pages that precede the home page when the website is being downloaded. It hardly covers any information and at times becomes an irritant for the visitor. If the splash page takes a longer time and is mandatory to be viewed by the visitor, the visitor may just log out of the website and click on the other website. Splash pages usually are a waste of time, money and resources and should be avoided.
Banners:
Excess of banner posting on the website should be avoided. There are multiple reasons for this. The main reason is distraction from the product and services being offered by the website owner. The other main reason is the placement of the banner. The placement of the banners is subject to the reading culture of the target audience. Usually the banners are place on the right margin of the web page because most of the people read from left from right. If the website is for the readers going right to left then the banners need to be placed on the left margin of the web page.
Audio:
Sometimes audio is used when the home page surfaces on the monitor. This can be very irritating at times. On the other hand there are situations where the audio becomes mandatory and in these sorts of situations there should be a facility to regulate the volume too.
It is better to avail the services of a professional business website designer to make the website a successful venture.
