Removal Of Scars

When a wound is healing, the possibility of scarring always exists. No matter how much we “don’t pick and squeeze†at pimples, rashes, and other skin conditions, a scar can be left behind. Scars on the body, especially those on the face and arms, can be difficult to deal with. The severity of a scar varies according to the location and nature of the related injury, so the banishing of scars can be quite difficult, if not impossible.
On the other hand, medical sciences have discovered several ways to lighten such scars and make them less visible. An experienced cosmetic surgeon will have many options for scar removal at his or her disposal. Typical treatments include the vascular laser, dermabrasion, subscision, filler injections, and chemical peels. The precise result will of course vary from one patient to the next as the best scar removal procedure for any individual can only be determined through consultation with a qualified dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon with ample experience in the field.
One other method for removal of scars is surgical scar revision. This ...
... process will transform or relocate the scar into a natural mark or wrinkle-like skin discrepancies. There is also an option in which the scar is surgically excised so that the skin recoups with reduced tension, instantly resulting in a lighter scar.
Punch grafts are also utilized for removing scars. This procedure works very well when the patient suffers from depressed acne scars, or ice pick scars. A specialized punch biopsy tool is used to extract a circular tissue area. This will then be positioned on the area of the scar. Typically, the surgeon will take skin from another part of the body, usually the ear, and stitch it into place directly over the scar. With a punch graft, the new scar is not quite as visible compared the original scar. If further disguise of the scar is required, the doctor might use dermabrasion or laser resurfacing after the punch graft has healed.
A person suffering from acne scars will most likely be treated with an autologuous fat transfer. This is a special process in which fat is removed from one part of the body and inserted into the scarred area. The scar may be on the face, arms, legs, backs, or any other part of the body. When this method is compared to an injection of collagen, the pros of fat transfer outweigh those of the collagen. It is overall a more natural process and is less likely to cause side effects. Artificially manufactured collagen poses certain threats to human health. On the other hand, neither of them have eternally long-lasting effects. Either way, the patient will more than likely require a booster shot periodically. The effects wear off over time, and several injections may need to be taken to reach the desired appearance. In both cases, however, scars considerably re-surface to skin level as the skin smoothes over and scars lighten.
The removal of scars is certainly not an easy procedure, especially when cosmetic surgery is involved. The brighter side of it is that patients are likely to lead a happier life with an improved appearance after the surgery. It is crucial that the doctor’s advice is taken into consideration, and scars are actively removed before they worsen.
