Coat
The coats of Boxers are thin and are rather easily maintained. They shed, although the fur is too short and fine that it usually doesn't build up until the shedding season when the rate doubles.
The under color of a Boxer's coat is tan or brindle, but tan may be seen anywhere along the continuum of brownish colors.
Activity
Boxers are hefty dogs that surely benefit from an hour of exercise everyday at the very least. Joggers find them perfect workout companions, since walks are usually not enough and they require them every day.
They do well when allowed to run freely in a rural environment, although many urban owners can successfully maintain them in small areas if a local park is around nearby. They are like a puppy when around a loving family, and make an excellent guard dog. Active, positive, and fun-loving, they are very strong and tend to forget their size, and the possibility of knowing someone or something over.
Overview
The Boxer came from Germany in late 19th century. This dog's name was derived from the "boxing" gesture they did with their front paws. This breed has a strong jaw and a powerful bite. They are commonly used in police work, search and rescue, and military work.
Care
The Boxer's short-haired coat is easy to care for. Brush with firm-bristled brush and bathe only when needed for bathing strips off the natural oils of the dog's skin. Boxers are generally clean with the ability to groom themselves like cats.
Boxers will not overeat, and must be fed twice a day. Complete dry food and lots of water should keep a Boxer in great condition.
Training
Boxers are reputed to be a handful as puppies. But as they get older, they tend to be calmer and will reward you a lifetime of reliable service if owners hold up with early training.
The Boxer is best-loved for their intelligence and loyalty. They are somewhat affectionate and love to sit beside you on the couch, wanting to be near their masters as often as possible. They tend to be distrustful if socialization is not done when they were still pups, and will very loudly broadcast the presence of visitors to your home. Normally, Boxers don't calm down until they reach 2 or 3 years of age, though they physically reach maturity over 18 months.
Character
Boxers are typically strong, lively, and extremely loyal. They are highly energetic. With a stoic posture, they carry themselves with pride, yet never arrogant. They are very intelligent, affectionate, and wonderful companions.
