The American Pitt Bull Terrier is a mid-sized, solidly built breed in the terrier group. They weigh 30-60 pounds, with the height of 18-22 inches. They have proportional brick-shaped head, round eyes, with neck sloping down to a broad chest and muscular legs.

Coat

They are not responsive to rough and harsh methods of training. A lot of patience, praise, respect, firmness, fairness, and consistency are needed.

Proper handling, with sufficient exercise and a consistent pack leader will produce a calm and obedient dog. As with any breed, socalization is very crucial. This will minimize their hostile tendencies. It is also important to make sure that they are under control at all times, especially when other dogs are around. This kind of breed is not advisable for most people, as some don't know how to properly raise a dog.
