Many people are currently trying to save money as much as possible due to the high cost of living. If you are one of these people it is important to find out how to make your house energy efficient. When energy bills come in each month that are taking a hunk out of your income it is time to do something about it. Following are some suggestions:

1. Check your windows and doors. Especially in older houses, through the years the molding and other insulation around the frames tends to wear out or simply rot away. This causes a great deal of heat loss from the house in the winter, causing the cost of heating to rise. In the summer it lets the cool air of the air conditioner out, making it run longer.

2. Do you have good insulation in your attic? If not and you look up there you will find it very hot. Having some insulation blown in or laying some yourself will save a great deal of money in heating bills.

3. What type of water heating system do you have? A great deal of money is lost on water heaters. The heating unit, gas or electricity, goes on and off all day to keep the water hot. Consider installing ...
... a combi unit. This provides domestic hot water without a tank and comes with three choices, direct combi, storage combi and system boilers. There are wall units as well as floor standing.

4. Many have found a great deal of savings and gained a lot of energy with solar panels. These panels can be installed on the roof or be free standing. They are excellent for bringing the heat from the sun's rays into your house and can even provide electricity with the right equipment.

5. Having new energy efficient windows put in will cut down on energy bills and keep the house much warmer. These are especially effective where there are sliding glass doors. They not only keep out the weather but noise as well.

Learning how to make your house energy efficient will not only save you money but will provide a healthier climate for the family as well. Many times outside contaminants come in through leaky windows and doors and can be harmful to the health. This is especially true if someone in the family has asthma. The pollen from outside plants sifts in and causes a reaction.
