How far can a glass of milk take you? Very far, says Jagdeep Singh Khangura, CEO of Macro Dairy Ventures Limited (MDVL). He adds, But you need to put your heart and soul into it. While this is true for all ventures but in this case, you need far more determination, far more focus. MDVL is one of the few companies that has worked towards consumer satisfaction and women empowerment, both at the same time. TruMilk, a brand of milk, sold under the flagship banner of Dairy Pride has become a name synonymous with quality milk. It is the freshest, safest, and cleanest milk available in the market.

TruMilk is a brand of pasteurized milk sold under the banner of Dairy Pride, a subsidiary of MDVL. It is claimed to be the freshest, cleanest, and safest milk, simply because it is the only brand of milk that you can trace the source, and be completely assured that everything in the production process, from milking to transportation, is under the control of Dairy Pride. And best of all, it is one brand of milk that looks after thousands of rural women in Punjab.

Dairy Pride believes that it is an integral part of their organization ...
... to contribute towards rural development. They focus on helping women to be self-sufficient, providing employment in rural areas, and working towards energy self-sufficiency. They have launched the initiative called ‘Wealth through Milk' concept. This has already started making a difference in villages such as Phallewal and Khandoor in Punjab.

Under the ‘Wealth through Milk' initiative, women from disadvantaged and landless families and marginal farmers now have the chance to become dairy entrepreneurs through self-help groups. This unique and well-regarded initiative ensures women are able to purchase cows through a formal banking system, directly entering the mainstream economy. Since many women have never had any control over household finances, and are from the poorest sections of the society, they are all first given complete training on how to manage their animals and the income generated from their herd.

The women participants in this program maintain their own herd themselves, on farms built and operated by Dairy Pride. These secure farms ensure that these women have access to Dairy Pride's high level of veterinary assistance, quality fodder, and machines for milking. The women use the earnings from the sale of milk from the cows to improve the quality of life of their families. Additionally, the women receive non-vocational training in education, healthcare, childcare, etc and access to free medical camps.

Dairy Pride has also partnered with local farmers to grow their own fodder for the cows using minimum pesticides and insecticides. This will have a long-term positive impact by improving the soils in the area, reducing consumption of water, helping break the wheat, and reducing the amount of chemicals we are exposed to daily.

The company is also focusing on energy self-sufficiency by recycling farm wastes such as cow dung and urine to produce electricity to power their farms.

As you can see, you can go very far with a glass of milk. It depends how far you want to go. When you choose TruMilk, you not only choose the best for your health but you also choose to help millions of women living in the rural areas.
