Itching refers to a skin disease more often caused by impure blood. It may occur over the whole body or in a particular area or location of the body. It is also known as pruritus. In simple words it can be defined as sensation that demands scratching of the affected area.

Itching is contagious and can be spread by direct or indirect contact. The body itching or general itching can be appropriate to some deadly matter in the body or may be the result of various diseases. Itching in a particular area is mainly due to insect bites and stings.

Diet

Diet can play an important role to combat itching that result from food allergies. If you have identified foods that cause itching, it's best to avoid them completely.

Increase your intake of Vitamin C, beta-carotene, Vitamin E and zinc through diet by having foods rich in the above mentioned vitamins and minerals.

Natural Remedies for Itchy Skin Rash

Baking soda

Baking soda battles itches of all kinds. For widespread or hard-to-reach itches, soak in a baking soda bath. Add 1 cup baking soda to a tub of warm water. Soak for 30 to 60 ...
... minutes and air dry. Localized itches can be treated with a baking soda paste. Mix 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water. Apply to the itch, but do not use if the skin is broken.

Application of paste made my mixing baking soda with water is also effective home remedy for itching.

Aloe Vera

This is gel-like substance from cut Aloe is widely known for treating skin burns and sunburns. Aloe Vera also helps in healing wounds and minor skin irritations such as an itchy skin rash. This plant produces anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, and anti fungal properties.

It also contains folic acid, zinc, and vitamins C and E. The best way to get the benefits of aloe Vera is to use the fresh gel from the plant. At the time of application, slice off a portion of the leaf and directly apply the gel to the affected area.

A salt free diet is the best when suffering from itchy skin. It is the best diet for itchy skin.

Calendula Essential Oil

Calendula is widely used for reducing inflammation and treating diaper rash. Experts say that Calendula works by stimulating the production of white blood cells that aid in destroying harmful microbes. You can also use the actual herb by mixing it with boiling water, one cup of the boiling water to two teaspoons of the herb. Let it simmer for about ten minutes. After the mixture has cooled, apply to the affected area by using a clean cloth.

Lemon

Many American folk remedy recipes call for using a lemon to treat itchy skin -- and rightly so. The aromatic substances in a lemon contain anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce itching. If nothing else, you'll smell good. Squeeze undiluted lemon juice on itchy skin and allow drying.

Jewelweed

Provides relief from poison oak, poison ivy rash, insect bites and bee stings. To use, crush the fresh leaves into a ball and rub over the rash as quickly as possible

Wild Pansy

This is a European wild flower that soothes and relieves itching and skin irritations associated with eczema. This is also used for soothing acne problems.
