The 1967 season of the National Football League featured a big step for the league. The league expanded to 16 teams that season with the New Orleans Saints as the new team in the league. In previous seasons the divisions had been unbalanced.

With an even amount of teams in the league, the league was now ready to realign their divisions. This meant that there would be 4 separate divisions in the NFL. These divisions would be called the Capitol Division, the Century Division, the Coastal Division and the Central Division.

The Central Division featured the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints. This division was competitive, but in the end the division was owned by the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys managed to take the division through their stellar defense. While they scored fewer points than the Eagles and Redskins they still managed to take the division by allowing just 268 points on the season. This total was the lowest in all of the Eastern Conference. They surrendered 85 fewer points than anyone in their division. The Eagles were second in the division with ...
... a 6-7-1 record. The Redskins managed a 5-6-3 record and the Saints won 3 of their 14 games.

The Century Division was dominated by the likes of the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were accompanied by the New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers in the Century Division. The Century Division was the second division in the Eastern Conference.

The Browns led the way with 9 wins in the division. The New York Giants were a solid team in 2nd place, but they could not overcome the 379 points that they surrendered on the season. They ended with a 7-7 record. The St. Louis Cardinals won 6 games, lost 7 and tied one more. The Steelers were last in the division with a 4-9-1 record.

The Coastal Division was the most dominant division in football that year. The Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Colts dominated the NFL with 11-1-2 records .They had the two best offenses and defenses in the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers came in third place in the division. They managed a 7-7 record despite playing in the division with the two best teams in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons were by far the worst team in the NFL, finishing with a 1-12-1 record.

The Central Division was led by the Green Bay Packers, who finished with a 9-4-1 record. The Chicago Bears came in 2nd place with a 7-6-1 record. The Detroit Lions finished with a 5-7-2 record. The Minnesota Vikings were the last place team in the Central Division. They ended with a 3-8-3 record.

In the end, the Dallas Cowboys managed to take out the Browns to advance to the championship game. In the Western Conference the Rams won the tiebreaker against the Colts, but lost to the Packers. The Packers and Cowboys would play for the Championship. The Packers would come out on top.

With that victory the Packers would also play against the Raiders for Super Bowl 2. The Packers won easily.
