With Your Cape Town Property You Will Have Access To Two Oceans
One of the most interesting things about the Cape Town property market is the fact that you have access to two oceans that is a unique characteristic that will find in very few places in the world.
Two diverse Faces
The Cape has two seaboards, one is on the Atlantic and the other is on False Bay, which is connected to the Indian Ocean. This gives it two different aspects as architecturally they are dissimilar. The False Bay side is a blend of Edwardian and Victorian forms like the Muizenberg Train station that is decidedly Edwardian in nature. Here there are also quite a few 20th century homes perched precariously on the steep slopes of the mountain. At Simons Town is a coherent community with a colonial main street that is well preserved.
The Atlantic side would not look out of place in California. Houses that are really boxes with views built in the mid 1900's share space with large in your face glamour estates. That there is money here is a given but if you want a Cape Town property with character you would be better of looking on the other shore.
If you want to shop for your dream home in the ...
... pricier areas of the Cape Town property market you better have deep purses lined with money. There is no bargain basement house, no hidden gem, they do not exist. When you purchase here you are doing it for long term satisfaction and are looking for you primary home or a vacation house for yourself. The only way to find anything that looks like deal is through an agent who has her nose to ground and nose the in and outs of the area
The penultimate Atlantic coast suburb in Cape Town property market is of course Fresnaye. Lost in the wonder of the mountains it is half way between the sky and sea, which makes the prospect divine. Lined by Palm trees these historic streets have names that take you back to a bygone era like La Croix, Des Huguenot or the Coeur de Lion. Homes here are at their lowest around half a million USD. The higher end of the spectrum can go upto a spectacular 6 million USD. Recently an older 4 bedroom, en-suite bath, detached property sold at 4 million.
As you coast up the Cape Town Atlantic Seaboard in your car you arrive at the glam suburbs, to buy here you have to have deep wallets. Anchor Bay, Camps Bay and Clifton are perfect places to go if you want a luxe beach house or a dream penthouse as your Cape Town property. Still under develop these properties promises to be the last word in luxury living. Afloat above the Atlantic these babies promise the best views and shout to the world about what you can purchase. If prestige living is what you want these are the Cape Town properties for you.
