This is just an introductory on the game of soccer. Many would know what the soccer game is all about, but this is for those who are novice to the game.

Soccer fields are rectangular in shape with soccer goals at both sides. The basic soccer rules are simple.

Soccer game is played with your feet; if you use your hands the other team gets a free kick or a penalty kick if it occurs near the goal. If a foul occurs accidentally a free kick is granted to the opposing team, but if the attack was targeted willful, a yellow card would be given for misconduct. Misconduct can be called whether or not the ball is in play, its referees call.

The winner is decided by measuring his efficiency in preventing the Soccer Ball from entering into the opponent's Soccer Goal.

The actual game if of 90 minutes with 45 - 45 minutes of half times, but there are few incidents where the clock is stopped, let's see what they are:

Time is stopped between a goal scored and the next team's kick-off. Any time one team gives up the soccer ball to the other, whether an out-of-bounds, hand ball or a foul, time is stopped until ...
... the other team re-initiates play. The referee stops time if there is an injured player, interference, or other external interruption. In this case, the referee will drop the ball from shoulder height in front of two players who fight for possession.
There are many terms used in the game of soccer which you might be familiar with but still there might be few which you may not:

Throw-in: when the ball has wholly crossed the touchline; awarded to opposing team to that which last touched the ball.

Kick-off: following a goal by the opposing team, or to begin each period of play.

Goal kick: when the soccer ball has wholly crossed the goal line without a goal having been scored and having last been touched by a player of the attacking team; awarded to defending team.

Corner kick: when the ball has completely crossed the goal line without a goal having been scored and having last been touched by a player of the defending team; this is awarded to attacking team.

Indirect free kick: awarded to the opposing team following "non-penal" fouls, certain technical infringements, or when play is stopped to caution or send-off an opponent without a specific foul having occurred. A goal may not be scored directly from an indirect free kick.

Dropped-ball: occurs when the referee has stopped play for any other reason, such as a serious injury to a player, interference by an external party, or a ball becoming defective. This restart is uncommon in adult games.

Direct free kick: awarded to fouled team following certain listed "penal" fouls.

Penalty kick: awarded to the fouled team following a foul usually punishable by a direct free kick but that has occurred within their opponent's penalty area.

Do you know this fact? The rules of football were codified in England by the Football Association in 1863, and the name association football was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of football played at the time, specifically rugby football. This is an interesting fact that the term soccer originated in England, first appearing in the 1880s as a slang abbreviation of the word "association".
