Even with world war two going on, the forties and the beginning of the decade brought us some great master pieces that most of us still enjoy watching whenever they can. The fact that there were so many good movies in the forties makes it even more tricky to only pick a few and come up with the top five.

The first movie I would put in this ranking is Casablanca. This movie released in 1942 included great actors with Humphrey Bogart or Ingrid Bergman just to name a few. This movie which is still considered as a must see is a romantic drama set in Casablanca during world war two.

I would put in second place the movie called Citizen Kane which was released in 1941 and directed by Orson Wells. It is also considered as one of the best movies ever like Casablanca. In this movie, Orson Wells also played the main character on top of directing the movie that got fourteen Academy Awards.

In third place, I would put The Maltese Falcon which is a movie that was released in 1941 and also starred Humphrey Bogart. This movie actually is the adaptation of a novel of the same name that was written by Dashiell Hammet. To ...

For a change, I will put a Walt Disney production in this fourth place with Bambi. This animated film that got most of us to shed a tear or two was released in 1942 and is among the best animated movies we have seen. It is actually based on a novel written by an Austrian called Felix Salten. We probably all have seen this one and we surely all loved it.

My fifth place of the ranking would go to Oliver Twist. The film was released in 1948 and was directed by David Lean. It is an adaptation of a novel written by the great Charles Dickens which tells the story of a young orphan.

There are so many to choose that it was quite difficult to come up with that ranking.
