Facebook has provided businesses and charities with a new way to reach millions of users. Breast cancer awareness is no exception. The list of charities looking for fans on Facebook that promote breast cancer awareness is nearly endless. Most even post all year long, peppering the Facebook world the heaviest in October †which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Facebook has its own overall Breast Cancer Awareness page. It allows users to participate in the click and donate a mammogram campaign, which is put on annually by The Breast Cancer Site. It also has links to shop for breast cancer awareness merchandise, and to take action by signing a petition

The Pink Ribbon is a group on Facebook that offers merchandise and spreads awareness by allowing survivors and family members to share their stories. Products offered for sale are through The Breast Cancer site, and purchases help fund mammograms for women who can’t afford them.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is one of the largest charity’s campaigning for a cure for breast cancer, and also has its own Facebook ...
... page and is currently promoting a new book. Nancy G. Brinker’s memoir of how a promise to her dying sister sparked a global campaign to find a cure for breast cancer. It also, of course, links back to Susan G. Komen’s home page.

The Breast Cancer Site has its own Facebook site, in addition to having links within other sites promoting breast cancer. This year’s goal for the site is to help fund 500 mammograms through their click to donate campaign and merchandise sales.
Another organization called Save the Ta-tas also has a Facebook page. It mostly keeps followers up to date on what the charity has been up to, and how they are making a difference. Most recently, the site posted “on Thursday, October 14, more than 50 Color Me Mine studios throughout the U.S. will host a Save the Ta-tas themed ladies night from which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Save the Ta-tas Foundation.”
The American Cancer Society also has their own Making Strides Against Breast Cancer which keeps followers up to date on walking fundraisers in their area. It also gives users a chance to post individual local fundraising events, aside from just the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Breast cancer awareness has taken Facebook by storm and one can only hope it will lead to a cure!
