Pop art is quite different from any other art movement. It's based upon whatever is popular at the time and is often referred to as propaganda art. With inspirations coming from anything in the world's culture at the moment, it uses newspapers, comics, advertising, and consumer products to capture moments in time.

Pop art had its origins in London in the 1950s. It made its way to New York by the 1970s and was often referred to as poor man's art. While some of the pieces are anything but cheap, the reference was simple a way of saying that it was for the everyday art lover. It disregarded the traditional concepts of what defined art and many people either loved or hated it.

Andy Warhol is probably the best known American artist for this movement. His works were often ironic, witty, and satirical. However, it was a form of art that defined the world at that time. The images were those that people could identify with and it created art fans from those that may otherwise have ignored it all together.

If you're looking for modern art instead of pop art, you're looking for pieces that were from the 1860s to the ...
... 1970s. This important art period was divided into many different movements, including impressionism and cubism. The greats of time included Picasso, Van Gogh, and Rouault. Some of these modern art paintings are in the finest museums around the world, but other artists of the time created works just as fascinating. For many people, owning a piece by one of these masters is a life goal and some will spend millions just for one painting.

Finding modern art and pop art for sale can be a somewhat trying experience. Unless you go through a broker or comb the galleries and art shows, you may not find the pieces you're looking for. However, the internet has certainly brought a great new avenue for buying art, including modern art and pop art. You can now find marketplaces designed for people to buy and sell art at prices that are much more reasonable than those at galleries. Many of the unknown artists of this day and age showcase their works here, as well. This gives you the chance to buy a piece for next to nothing now that ends up being worth much more later on. It's also a great way to find pieces that the owners may not truly understand what they have. This means a great investment for your money.

In closing, when you are looking to buy modern art or pop art, it's time to get online. You'll find hundreds of pieces for much less than in a gallery and you don't have to pay a broker's fee, either. For people who don't have the time to travel looking for an obscure piece here and there, this is a great solution. If you're ready to add to your art collection, the internet is certainly the best place to start.
