Pop art is much different from the traditional concept of art that many people have. This art first started in the 1950s in London and worked its way to New York in the 1960s. It's often witty and ironic in nature, but it can have a lasting impression on those who see it.

Pop art is cultural art. It highlights the different cultural aspects in place at any given time, such as in newspapers, comics, advertising, and consumer goods. It's not the kind of art that is popular with everyone, but it certainly fills a specific place in the art world.

Through the use of everyday images, pop art essentially broke through the barriers that defined commercial art and pop art. Often used as a voice in consumerism and politics, it seemed that people either loved or hated it. One of the most popular artists of the time was Andy Warhol. To many he was a one of the greatest pop artists of the time, but others saw him as a conveyor of mass produced garbage. Depending on your feelings towards this type of art, you may or may not find his work quite stimulating.

The purpose of this type of art was to bring art back to the ...
... everyday, working person. While no in demand than some of the other types of art, it is usually a little less expensive. That is, when you know where to look to buy art.

If you're looking to buy art, especially this form, one of the best places to do so is online. Not only will you find more pieces than you will walking through hundreds of galleries around the world, you can search by the specific type and period of art that you like best. Perhaps you're simply looking to add a piece to your collection or you'd like to find that one special gift for someone. The internet has opened up a whole new world to the art lover and offers a unique environment to buy art.

While many people do enjoy visiting galleries, art shows, and art fairs, some people may find that visiting one website for both buying and selling art is more to their liking. Unfortunately, many of the websites only cater to one specific artist or time period. Look for a site that offers you the chance to view hundreds of pieces at once, all for sale by private buyers. Why pay someone to find the pieces you like? You're only spending money that you could spend on more pop art!

In closing, while you may wonder what the best way is to buy art, you don't have to look any further than the internet. You can also sell pieces that you don't need or want any longer. It's really brought the art world to the everyday person, just as many of the artists of the pop art culture wanted. It's time to find your favorite and buy art from private sellers.
