It is a big problem when you come to find that water has been leaking though your house. If the pour of the water is continuous it will start to create a pool and will eventually seep through the ceiling, walls and floors. This could cause some serious damage like discoloration and mold formation to your home. These effects can occur within a matter of days so best be quick about the water damage ceiling.

For any problem there is always a solution. The best way to get started with this solution is to find out where the water is coming from. If it's coming from a hole on the roof, patch it up right away. If it's coming from a broken pipe, turn off your water immediately and call the local plumber to check where the leak is coming from.

If the water is coming from one direct point from the ceiling, place a bucket under that point so that the rest of your house or things inside it won't be affected by the water. If the ceiling starts to look bloated and saggy, punch a small hole with a nail or a screw driver. Don't put too many holes though because you wouldn't want your house to be repaired for the entire ceiling.

If ...
... it takes awhile for the professional services to come and repair the damage on your roof or pipes, that shouldn't stop you from trying to protect the rest of your house. Pull out rags and tarpaulins to cover the affected area. Remove all of the things inside the room in order to prevent any other materials from being damaged.

When you've stopped the water from seeping through the roof, the next step on fixing the water damage ceiling would be to allow the damp spot to dry. Put in dehumidifiers and some fans in the room to allow the drying process to go by faster. As soon as the ceiling dries up, use a narrow putty knife to remove any drywall or crumbled paint. To cover up a stain, apply a stain sealer then repaint over the ceiling.
