It's that time of year again. Rainy days are becoming more frequent so it's important that you do your best to prepare your home before any torrential downpours occur. To help you prepare our home for this year's rainy weather, take a few moments to read up on some great home maintenance tips that Able Restoration has put together. Rainy Day Home Maintenance

- Check your roof for signs of water damage or defects that could potentially cause leaks. If you notice any signs it is important that you have them repaired as quickly as possible.

- Check all of your rain gutters to be sure they are not clogged by leaves or any sort of debris. Water needs to be able to flow freely through all of the gutters.

- Be aware of any areas in your yard that could become filled with stagnant water. Stagnant water will become breeding grounds for flies and mosquitoes.

- Keep any greenery that grows close to your house trimmed for safety reasons.

- Door mats being used at any entrances should ...
... be kept in good condition. Get into the habit of wiping off their shoes before entering the house. Any wetness or mud brought in could cause slipping accidents.

- Protect any wooden doors, window sills, or entrances from rain with varnish or waterproofing sealers.

- Any outdoor sealed and or waxed floors should be kept as dry as possible. If there is a downpour, it is important that the floors be mopped dry soon after to prevent prolonged soaking that can lead to water damage or the need for future mold remediation.
