However, despite the vast number of advantages that online skills can bring to offline businesses, many internet gurus still fail to make that much desired shift from the online world to the offline one. The most basic underlying reason for this is that offline marketing doesn’t work exactly like online marketing does. If you approach everything in the same manner that you would in online marketing, there is a high possibility that you might end up seeing less than optimal results.

Make sure you know what you are talking about and always try to anticipate what they might ask and come up with a list of viable answers. Show them what you have got and what you can do for them. This is a mutually beneficial deal and you must remember that you are not trying to sell them something that they do not need. For instance, if you are doing search engine optimization, you can simply start off by showing them the organic results for some key search terms that they might be interested in. Following that, try to show them their own sites and what people are saying about them. From there on, you can proceed to letting them know more about search volumes and search trends. As simple as these might sound, you will be surprised at how impressed most traditional business owners will be.

Once you have gotten their attention and interest, do try to highlight to them your unique selling points and why you are the right choice for them. You might not be the best in terms of SEO in this world but assure them that you are well experienced in handling local businesses. Traditional offline businesses also prefer a more interpersonal approach and someone who they can call or meet with every now and then. Assure them that you will be there for them as you are specialized to their local region.

Finally, even if you do not manage to close them that day, stay courteous, upbeat and leave your name card. You never know when they might finally decide to use your services so always ensure that they have an easy way to reach you.
