Innovation made by Sony Ericsson to bring mobile phones with music features never seems to stop. After some time ago launched a range of W, now back the Sony Ericsson Zylo -a standard mid-range slide mobile phone with Walkman functionality. The phone has the typical slider form factor as we've seen in many of the company's handsets and looks stylish and slick, with curved edges and a metallic matt finish.

With a slide style design, the Sony Ericsson Zylo is compact, but a little thick, measuring in at 103 x 52 x 16mm. It only weighs 115g, really at the lightweight. When closed, the front of the phone is dominated by a standard QVGA screen, measuring in at 2.6 inches with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The display supports up to 256,000 colours and its glass cover is scratch-resistant. The display also feature auto rotate, as the accelerometer sensor can flip the screen over from landscape to portrait view and vice versa. This phone is available in a range of funky colours, including Jazz Black, Chacha Silver, and Swing ...
... Pink.

Labelled as a Walkman phone, the Zylo is being talked up as a phone for music lovers, so the main feature of this phone is its music playing capabilities. The built-in Walkman 4.0 player has a good selection of themes, and makes organizing your music very simple. You can browse through files via artist, album or genre, and you can also create personal playlists. The sound quality is great, and it supports a wide variety of music formats, including MP3, eAAC+, WAV, and even the high definition FLAC format. There is also an FM radio with RDS support, thus allowing you to tune in your favorite station programs when you are bored on the move. The only failure is that it doesn't have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can't use your own headphones -- you're limited to the bundled earphones in the package. For storing music, media and other files, this phone comes with an internal memory of 260MB, which can be expanded with Micro SD memory cards, with the Zylo officially supporting cards up to 16 GB in size.

The Sony Ericsson Zylo is equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back of the phone, while a little lower than average. It doesn't really take fantastic pictures without fixed focus and LED flash support. The camera can also record video at 30fps, with "normal" resolution of 640 x 480, which gives you wonderful visual experience .

In terms of connectivity, the phone features 3G HSDPA, so you'll be able to get access to internet at a higher speed. But there is no Wi-Fi. The handset also provides class 10 GPRS and EDGE technology, which offer high speed data transfer rates. Other connectivity options include a Micro USB port for connecting to a PC, and a Bluetooth 2.1, with A2DP for stereo wireless streaming. There is also social network applications such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, so you can always stay updated with the latest information from your friends or the world.

All in all, the Sony Ericsson Zylo is ideal for those looking for an easy to use budget mobile phone perhaps as their first phone, or a slide phone with music playing features.
