Radiant Floor Systems - Are They Really The Best Heating Solutions For Home?
Radiant floor systems are chosen by quite a lot of homeowners today because of the various advantages that if offers. This heating system supplies heat through the floors of the house which makes the floors warm and toasty and makes the heat seep into every surface of the floor. This system works by heat transfer technology. What this means that it delivers heat from a type of hot surface to the objects and the people inside the room. This heating system works in a very different way than the traditional radiators that most people use at home these days.
How does it Work?
To understand how radiant floor systems work, you should think about an electric burner that you use at home on the stove. The heat that you would feel through this heating system would be quite similar to that. The main difference here is that the heating element would be located under the floor and the heat would rise through the floors at your home and then radiate to the room. This system is more efficient when compared to the baseboard heating that we use at home. It is even more efficient than the forced air heating systems. The big advantage ...
... here is that no heat would be lost since there are no ducts through which the hot air has to travel. The heat would directly seep in through the floors of the home, exactly where it is needed.
This heating system is also very convenient to use in homes where a member has allergies. There would be no allergens or dust inside the home which is the main problem with the forced air heaters. Without these allergens and dust particles, there would be fewer allergy attacks since the air inside the home would be cleaner.
Types of Heating Systems
There are basically three different kinds of radiant floor systems. These are hot water heating, electric heating and air floors. Deciding which one to choose for your home would depend on a number of different factors. You would have to consider the electricity cost in your location, the type and the size of home you live in and the power grid that you use. The air floors are actually the least cost efficient of all three. These are rarely used in homes since air would not be able to hold heat effectively.
The electric heating system is quite popular today even though it is not exactly cost efficient. However, it is cheaper and easier to install which makes it convenient for many homeowners. Hydronic heating systems or liquid system is the most widely used across homes in the country. In this system, heated water is pumped through tubes which are installed under the floors. The tubes would then heat up the floors and would make the air inside the room warmer.
These were the three main types of heating systems which can be used at home. It would be best for the homeowners to study the pros and cons of each of these radiant floor systems before selecting one.
