Finding the right career is a hard choice, but choosing a career in cosmetology would be a great idea for several reasons. Most importantly, the range of jobs are endless, and new jobs are opening up. The first step, however, is to become licensed in this field. The next step is to find a job. Choosing a degree in cosmetology is logical and chic. While clothes and hairstyles may go out of style, a cosmetologist is always the first person to know the next trend, while helping people transform themselves into a new person.

State-Licensing Exam

After graduating from cosmetology school, many would be asking themselves, "now what do I do?" Just a cosmetology degree will not get a person anywhere, they need to be licensed by the state they reside or decide to work in. Before a cosmetologist can start applying for jobs, they must take a state-licensed exam and pass with good scores. After this exam is completed and passed, the cosmetologist can start looking for careers and turning in resumes. Fortunately, with a cosmetology degree, the job options are almost unlimited.

Choosing A Job Field

Most people think ...
... that cosmetology school is all about cutting, coloring and perming hair. Little do these people know, a degree in cosmetology gives the student an endless number of options for a career field. From a hair stylist, make-up artist, to manicurist, job possibilities are amongst the broadest of any other degree out there. Many cosmetology schools also offer classes in skin care and beauty therapy. These may help further the education and job fields that the cosmetologist can obtain. Other options of furthering education include taking classes and becoming licensed in electrolysis.

Explanations Of Job Fields

Beauty therapy is a great option for individuals who want to work in a spa environment. Their duties include eyelash and eyebrow tinting, make-up, hair removal, and massages. A manicurist works with hands and feet to create healthy nails and skin while making them look aesthetically beautiful. An electrologist may require a little more schooling passed cosmetology depending on the state, but their job includes hair removal via an electrolysis machine. And lastly, a hair stylist is a beautician or barber who cuts, perms, and dyes the hair of an individual or customer.
