Ever heard of a laptop as a musical instrument???? Unbelievable, isn't it??? But absolutely true!!!! The latest in laptops is now being used as a musical instrument. The scene  more than a dozen musicians gathered together to rehearse music, the location  a practice room on the Stanford Campus. This is the world of Slork (Stanford Laptop Orchestra), a high tech musical project underway. But the very fact that a laptop is being used as a musical instrument was so astonishing that it just had to be shared!!!
It just shows how much technology has advanced from the basic computer, linking back in time in the 1800s to its advancement in the 1960s. The launch of the laptop in 1981 revolutionalised the computing world. Though they were not confined to one place, they were bulky and heavy. And now in the year 2010, latest model laptops launched are lightweight. The plastic has now been replaced with strong and durable carbon fibre alloy material.
What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook? Most people use the terms laptop and notebook interchangeably without being aware of the ...
... difference. Once the PC leaves the desktop, it becomes laptop/notebook for them. However, there are some major differences. The name laptop, as it suggests, needs you to sit down with the computer on your lap and is loaded with features and power. It has 14-17 screen, 3 hour + battery life among other things. In a way, a notebook is the latest in laptops . A notebook is ultralight, with 4-5 hour battery life. The lighter, the better!!
From the above, it can be seen that notebooks are the exact opposite of laptops. While latest notebooks offer reasonable power and extreme portability, laptops are designed to replace the desktop PC completely, if necessary.
The latest model laptop to enter the market is an unusual laptop and also the most expensive at approximately 1 million USD, designed exclusively for the chosen few who would be able to customize according to their needs. The laptop boasts of luxury in a practical way and not just a diamond studded show. One diamond stud will double as a power button when placed on the laptop and will also act as security identification. All the diamonds used in the laptop will double up for some purpose or other.
