Dr. Marc Katz, a Tampa podiatrist has done it again. To start with he created the CryoMax procedure for nerve destruction to decrease foot pain. The procedure is known throughout the US, Canada and various other countries. Now, Dr. Katz has created the ToeLaze Complete procedure, also referred to as the TLC procedure!

Dr. Katz began with the safest and best laser in the industry, the Cooltouch CoolBreeze CT3 Plus Zoom. He then developed an advanced three staged process that provides patients with removal of toenail fungus and the absolute greatest laser toenail fungus outcomes.

Katz explains that most physicians make use of the laser with typical protocols and settings and treat the nails with heat to obliterate fungus. He comments that toenail fungus is very resistant to treatments and that is why topical medications don't work and even strong oral medications have a low success rate. The oral medications can also bring about liver damage, loss of taste, stomach problems and other problems.

While having a laser treatment, many different locations of the nail and nail bed necessitate intense treatment. The ...
... most defiant area is the skin of the nail bed. Dr. Katz notes that it is not just the surface of the skin but the fungal infection is in the actual skin layer. This is usually the same infection that could cause athlete's foot. Most lasers and laser protocols do only a fair job of penetrating this layer and treating long enough to eradicate the fungus. Other locations that contain the infection involve the actual nail plate itself and the nail surface. Nail discoloration with dark yellow, brown and black is a result of an infection extending throughout the nail and attached to the nail bed. The surface fungus will often appear white and be at the base of the nail and along the sides, the nail grooves. Consequently, the problem is multi-faceted and needs a perfectly thought out protocol for optimal outcomes.

Dr. Katz had created the ToeLaze Complete (TLC) Procedure over time, based on his wide-ranging research and extensive experience with patients. He has refined the protocol and it will continue to change over time.

Dr. Katz has created 3 key components for his TLC Procedure. The first is the usual raising of heat to kill the fungus. This is ordinarily the only mechanism that the standard laser treatment will offer. It is Dr. Katz's strong belief that the treatments must go well beyond the heat procedure and must concentrate on all layers of infection inside the nail and the nail bed. As a result, he has conceived a procedure of altering settings within the laser to enter the nail, nail bed surface and nail bed skin evenly with heat making sure to offer the the best amount of heat to all of these areas. Most laser protocols are quite random and static and afford uneven heat to some layers and not others.

The second component includes the use of the actual red light laser beam to bring about photoinactivation of the fungus leading to the destruction of the genetic material of the fungus. This can only be achieved through prolonged exposure to the laser beam with controls altered to again evenly and fully involve all layers. This is done through many passes over the nail with significantly different settings for each pass. Simply applying the laser in the usual fashion does not produce these optimal outcomes. Dr. Katz believes that this procedure gives a much greater amount of fungal destruction and the failure of the fungus to reproduce and reinfect the nail.

The third method is truly unique and causes particles within a solution to penetrate into the the nail plate and into the actual nail bed skin layer. Katz has personally formulated the solution and notes that the particles permeate by a mechanism known as photophoresis. This mechanism allows the anti-fungal particles to penetrate into the most resistant layer killing the hardiest fungus that hides within the deep layers.

It truly is easy to understand that the TLC Procedure takes a simple laser technique and elevates the laser treatment to an extraordinary procedure with outstanding results. This is a technique that separates Dr. Katz from other Laser Toenail Fungus providers.

While there is no absolute cure for toenail fungus infections, Dr. Katz's TLC Procedure is the closest you will get! Additionally, there are outstanding maintenance options to prevent recurrence of fungal infections. Katz states that in especially severe cases certain patients have infections deep in the base and growth area of the nail and may call for nail removal followed by the laser treatment still using the TLC protocol.
