East of Panay Island and before Negros, you will find the charming island of Guimaras. The only men's monastery in the Philippines that is run by the Cisterian Order of Strict Observance since 1972, the monastery serves as a spiritual haven for those who needs to reassess their lives and seek a quit place to think. They also have a unique souvenir store, a chapel and an amazing expanse of grounds where visitors of the non-meditating kind can still visit and admire the religious atmosphere.

Beach resorts of course, are a given, and there may be a few places to choose from here, but they are without a doubt excellent. If dissatisfied, the waves and the powdery shores are sure to win you over. Snorkeling is a must if you like the waters, because the reefs and marine life will not disappoint. This is also biking country- in some places hitching on motor bikes is the best and most fun way to go, and discover valleys, springs and waterfalls.
