Resveratol comes in the category of antioxidants. It is a natural compound usually seen in red grape skin, peanuts, Japanese knotweed and certain berries like blueberries. It is commonly believed that free radicals working in the body are the factors behind aging. Antioxidants are supposed to be neutralizers of these free radicals. Hence, there is a great demand of resveratol among humans. Even though a naturally occurring substance, it is now available in pill, powder or solution form for medical usage.
Free radicals, in human body, come as a result of pollution, exposure to high intensity sunlight and fat in the body. The accumulation of free radicals can cause brain degeneration, cancer and aging. They oxidize the cell DNA damaging the cells. Resveratol, being a powerful antioxidant, prevents this damage. There are many other uses of Resveratol. Blood platelet accumulation, which, in certain circumstances can cause stroke or heart attack is prevented by this drug. It is a boon for type-2 diabetes patients as it lowers blood sugar levels. It increases your ...
... energy levels too. It has been found that Resveratol slows down the rate of cancer growth in various forms of cancer. Some physicians prescribe this medication for Alzheimer's patients as this drug helps in improving memory and protecting brain cells. Sometimes, it is also used in pain problems of the joints.
Resveratol, if combined with 'blood-thinning' drugs, is found to be harmful for certain patients. Patients who use medications like Aspirin or Warfarin should consult their doctor before using Resveratol. If you have blood related disorders, you should be in close watch of a physician while using Resveratol. If you are pregnant or breast feeding, it is better not to use this medication.
Make sure that your children do not lay their hands on this medicine as it can affect their growth and cause them problems. Women who have got high estrogen sensitivity (for example, cancer patients) should not use this medicine. As of now, no long term or short term side effects of Resveratol have been reported.
