Personal water tanks are used all over the world, and have many benefits, including saving those that use them money on their water bill should they receive water at a premium each month. Those who use a lot of water such as for irrigation, benefit from collecting rainwater in tanks and using it for watering their crops or other vegetation, and others collect water for future use such as drinking in the case of an emergency, Water tanks can be used to store water for all sorts of uses, and certainly make a good backup plan in case of a disaster.

Personal water tanks may be used to collect rainwater for drinking. Rainwater tanks are specially built for collecting rainwater that runs from rooftops and gutters, and will usually have a filter that prevents contaminants from getting in, but rain water that has been collected for drinking should still be purified. Falling through the air in polluted areas can cause rainwater to become unusable for drinking without filtration, as well as certain paints and roof materials, or dirt and debris on the roof or in the gutter system itself.

Besides irrigation, there are a ...
... thousand uses for water that is collected, and it is amazing how much water can be gained from just an inch of rain. If you collect water on a roof that measures 1000 square feet, and at least an inch of rain falls, you can get more than 600 gallons from that inch or water. If several inches of water falls, and you have a large roof to collection the water and drain it, then the only thing stopping you from collecting thousands of gallons of water is the storage. If you have several water tanks, you will probably fill them all from a couple of inches of rain.

Collected water can be used for nearly anything. Besides irrigation and drinking, which were already mentioned, water may be used for showering, or running appliances such as a washing machine or a dishwasher. Also, water can be piped to the sinks and bathtubs, and be used for car washing, lawn irrigation and many other uses. However, most collect rain water for drinking in the case of some kind of disaster such as a drought or a case in which the regular city water that gets piped to your home is contaminated or your well goes dry.

Personal water tanks can be used by anyone, and most are affordable for the average person with an income. These specially made tanks can be a major benefit to anyone that wants to make sure that their family has enough water to drink in an emergency, or simply wants to provide some of their own water so that they can save money on their water bill. In fact, collecting rainwater can be the first step to self sufficiency, incorporating alternative power sources later, and growing or storing food for the future.
