Google Instant
Did you happen to catch the Google logo today? As you type in the letters of your search query, one by one, you’ll see the Google Logo go from a washed out white to its traditional logo colors. If you were wondering why Google did this, there is a really good reason behind it and their blog explains it.
According to Google, finding results will be faster than the speed of type. This morning, Google posted a blog revealing their new search functionality that pulls up search results as fast as you can type. This new function is called “Google Instantâ€Â. The new instant search is meant to provide faster and more relevant results while helping to guide those using the search engine for a query to gauge if they are typing in the right phrase for finding the results they want. Google Instant virtually ends the need to even press “search†or hit the “enter†key. To see how this works, see the video below.
This kind of innovation in faster search is what makes Google the top dog when it comes to search engines. In essence, ...
... they are teaching people young and old how to search correctly. Being a professional in the search engine marketing industry, most of my keyword research proves that people still do not know how to query correctly. This challenges online businesses to identify all of the keywords to target in their campaigns. Most online business owners that perform “Do-it-Yourself†SEO are not trained to target keywords that their potential clients are using. I believe this will really help better connect those businesses to those who are searching for their product or services.
We’ve seen a glimpse of this technology, now also adopted by Bing, when Google started using word predictions in their search bar. If you remember, Google aired a commercial during the Super Bowl to show how someone can use these predictions to search. This function also minimizes the need for the person to scroll down and see further results that might not be found in the top three results. What does that mean for SEO? This means titles of pages and content must be incredibly accurate and targeted on the keyword you want used to find your web page. 68% percent of searchers do not go past the first page. In this case, I feel this number will only continue to rise making page 1 even more critical. SEO is vital for online businesses looking to be found on the World Wide Web.
With the recent upgrade of Google’s Image search results and now Google Instant, it is abundantly clear that Google remains very focused on search technology and with Google Instant they have raised the bar significantly.
