GPS stands for Global positioning System is a satellite-based navigation system placed in the Earth's orbit by U. S. National Defense. Everyday, these 24 satellites will circle the Earth twice a day in the same orbit and transmit information back to Earth. Initially, these satellites were for the use of the military but in the 1980s, civilians have been allowed to use it.

When the GPS receivers get the information from the satellite, it will use triangulation and calculate the user's position and display it on the electronic map. The GPS receiver will also compare the time the signal it was transmitted against the time it was received, this will tell the GPS receiver how far the satellite is. When the distances among the satellites are measured, the receiver will determine the user's position and display it on the GPS unit. The user's position as well as the speed and distance to destination will also be determined.

Trust that GPS are accurate in determining your location. It will only have minor glitches if there are atmospheric factors that will affect its accuracy. Factors that might affect the signal and accuracy ...
... may be the ionosphere and troposphere. As the signal passes through the atmosphere, it slows down and delays the transmission of signal. Inaccuracy may also be cause by tall buildings or large rock formations when the signal hits them before the receiver. Orbital errors may also happen that will affect the transmission of the signal. These are just three causes, and there are still other factors that may affect the accuracy of the gadget.

But aside from these factors, your GPS is as accurate as it can be. GPS are one of the inventions that greatly help people to go to their destination without getting lost. For an instance, if you're residing or going to Canada, you can purchase GPS Canada maps available that you can easily use. The choice is also yours on how you want to get there as it provides you routes that you can take. Almost all cars today have installed GPS in them. You can also use your GPS in hiking or fishing.

In Canada, GPS are essential during travels. In fact, in some areas, GPS Canada maps are used as their tour guides in hiking. Most GPS are easy to use, you just have to key in where do you want to go and how do you want to go there and follow the default route it will give you. GPS will guide you step by step, if ever you get lost, it will reroute you so you can get back on track.

GPS are very practical tools and easy to use. Today, they are also cheaper than before. You can also purchase GPS Canada maps at a cheaper price. Plus, its fun since you will never get lost again. Or if you will, it could always reroute you and you're back on track.
