Although running back LaMichael James is a crucial part to the Oregon Ducks offense, and their hopes this season, they did not have much trouble without him in a rout of New Mexico by a whopping 72-0 final score last week. James had to sit out the season opening game due to a suspension, but is set to return to the field for the Ducks game against Tennessee, which is a bit more of a quality opponent, to say the least.

James was arrested on domestic violence charges over the offseason in February. It was considered a shock to most, as James did not have any sort of sordid past, and was considered by all to be a good kid. He got into an argument with an ex girlfriend that turned physical. The woman claimed he grabbed her by the neck and shoved her down to the ground. James spent two days in jail for the incident, and pleaded down to a misdemeanor. With policy having to be upheld, coach Chip Kelly suspended James for the opener against New Mexico.

James is set to return to the field against the Volunteers, and will be a welcome addition. The offense rolled last week, but will be facing a tough SEC defense in Tennessee. ...
... James is motivated to return to the game on a big stage and in a hostile environment. Kenjon Barner took his place last week, and ran for four touchdowns while catching another one. With his explosion, James will not have to see all of the work load, though he is the starter.

He seems to have put the incident behind him, while keeping things in perspective. I really wanted to be with my teammates, you know. But you have to deal with consequences with everything in life. I'm just eager to get back out here this week. he stated in an interview. One can assume the Ducks are happy to have him back. This is the biggest non conference game on their schedule, and could very well make or break their chances at a BCS bowl this season. Oregon is 3-4 all time against the SEC.
