Nokia has been in the mobile phone market for a good number of years now, and it never disappoints its users. Now, the Nokia 2680 - a basic slide phone in the lower midrange category, still occupies a fraction of market, as there are some consumers love simple phones.

In terms of looks, the Nokia 2680 Slide has a nice simple slide design and is very basic. This is a good thing though: sliders have the advantage as the smaller size when the phone is closed makes it easier and comfortable to hold and slip into your pocket. Measuring 99 x 47 x 15.5 mm and weighing 94.5 grams (including battery ), this phone is quite compact. Moreover, you don't even need to slide the keypad down when checking messages and such, in general, the keypad only comes out when you need to SMS or make a call. The Nokia 2680 Slide comes with a 1.85 inches TFT screen which can display up to 65k colors at a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. You can change the phone's themes, wallpapaers and screensavers according to your own taste. When the phone is in its slide open position, you can see its well spaced, glossy keypad. The keys themselves feels a little smaller, but when you are used to it, typing is not a problem. The controls are what we've come to expect from Nokia - a large five way navigational pad, two selection keys and answer and end call buttons. Unfortunately, external volume controls are not present on this phone, which is a little disappointing.

The Nokia 2680 Slide features all the messaging services that we have to come expect from our mobile phones nowadays, including SMS, MMS, instant messaging. And it is worth mentioning that this phone features a new messaging function which is called Xpress audio messaging. This feature allows the user to record a short personal voice clip, then insert it into a message and send to other compatible users.

Despite being an entry-level handset, the 2680 still features widely used GPRS Internet access and Bluetooth, which allow you to stay contact with your family and friends. But a USB port is absent, which means you can't even transfer files to and from your PC. When it comes to entertainment, there are a media player for MP3, a voice recorder and an FM radio, so you can listen to music or record your favourite radio programs. It also comes with a VGA camera which unfortunately takes very low quality pictures. Actually, a lot of the features on this phone seem not so much useful. For example, the MP3 player is pretty useless since the phone only has 35MB of internal memory and there is no expansion slot as well.

Anyway, as a simple mobile phone, the Nokia 2680 Slide is enough to those who only do some daily calling and messaging and don't want any bells and whistles
