The Chrysler Aspen, similar in shape and design to the Dodge Durango, was first introduced in 2007 as an SUV made for hauling cargo in style. Featuring three rows of seats, the Chrysler Aspen can fit eight people comfortably, or the seats can be folded down to allow you more cargo room than most of its major competitors.

More than anything, the Chrysler Aspen was built to tow difficult loads. The shocks are heavy duty and designed to comfortably cushion the huge counterbalancing weight of a trailer or large boat, while still making your journey comfortable and pleasant. The steering is precise and careful, intended specifically for the weight of this SUV and the loads it might be carrying, and the traction, turning radius, and braking are all excellent even in wet weather.

For gasoline lovers, this monstrous hauling SUV has two different types of Chrysler engine available, both of them extremely powerful models. Both engines feature rapid acceleration, plenty of torque, and massive towing capabilities. The Aspen is also available with a hybrid ...
... Chrysler engine if you are the economic type.

The standard engine type is a 4.7 liter V8 PowerTech with 230 horses. Although made of cast iron, this Chrysler engine has aluminum heads and a displacement value of only 287 cubic inches. It is a two valve per cylinder Chrysler engine, comes with a snug, chain driven overhead camshaft, and was listed as one of Ward's Ten Best Engines in 1999.
Of course, if that is not enough power for you, you can always go with the Hemi. The other gasoline based Chrysler engine available for the Aspen, a 5.7 liter V8 Hemi, has up to 385 horsepower and can tow pretty much anything you can attach to it—up to almost 9,000 pounds. The Hemi's use of pushrods give it more thrust than most comparable engines, while its mere two valves per cylinder makes sure you don't trade any of that power for mileage. It also comes with a Multi Displacement System that can limit the engine to only using four of the eight cylinders, depending on your load, to increase fuel economy as much as possible.

The hybrid Chrysler engine was introduced for the Aspen in 2009 and is advertised to offer a forty percent fuel economy gain for city driving and almost twenty five percent on the highway. Although a very efficient hybrid engine, this Hemi is still a powerful force to reckon with at 5.7 liters and 340 horsepower.

All three engines make use of a five speed automatic transmission which has been programmed for soft shifting. Soft shifting is where engine power is slightly reduced during the automatic shifting of gears using a torque management system. This provides extra smoothness and fluidity during shifts whether at full throttle or on a leisurely drive. Due to the incredible weight they often carry, with age many Chrysler engines develop problems with maintaining normal operating temperatures.

About: Although they rarely fail, if worst comes to worst, the best option is usually to replace the engine with a used Chrysler engine, instead of going through the hassle and expense of buying a new car.
