Groups Which Are Eligible For Minority Grants

When people hear the words minority grants, something that they immediately think of is grants that are based on the color of the person's skin. But that is just one of the things that minority grants refer to. There are actually three groups that are considered minorities.

Race - Of course, minority grants are first about race. African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans - any race that is considered to be a minority. This is the first thing that people think about when the term minority grants comes up. But race is only the first of the components of minority grant recipients.
Gender - Another thing that minority grants encompass is gender of students. Even though they may not think that, women are often considered a minority, depending on what field they are going into due to the fact that a lot of women do not go into that specific field.
Disabled - The third minority group that people don't think about as a minority is people who are disabled. This could be a mentally disabled person or a physically disabled person. It could be someone who is in a wheelchair, who ...
... is dear, who is blind, and who is special education. The possibilities are almost endless.

If you think that you fit into one of these groups and may be eligible for one of these kinds of grants, then delve into the information further. Even if you don't think that you are a minority, you may be depending on what field you are going into when you are studying.
Look into all the eligibility factors when you are considering minority grants and see if any of them are something that you fit. You may be surprised at what people consider to be a minority and you may be selling yourself short if you don't at least try to get that grant. Do your research and see what it is that you might be able to get. It doesn't hurt to try and you might find that you are eligible for something that you never epected.
