The history of the Catholic STS engine starts back in 1956, back when Eldorado convertible's and hardtop Eldorado's begin showing up on the show room floor. The Eldorado was just the beginning of the Cadillac Seville. In 1959 the hardtop coupe, version dropped in price to compete with the '59 convertible model which sold 1320 cars versus the hard tops lowly number of 975. Fast forward to 15 years later, GM takes an x-car and stretches it overall length of 204.0 inches and reworked the rear suspension and front springs. They also add larger front disc brakes while the rear brakes stayed the same.

The year 1985 brings about the V-8 diesel and does a disservice to the car. In1980, the Cadillac Seville has completely been overhauled and is basically a new car, with new suspension, and McPherson struts,

In 1992 the overall length of the Seville is 203.9 inches, has extremely handsome exterior and a clean interior. Cadillac has big changes are around the corner for the Seville and decides to change the name to the Seville Touring Sedan(STS). The Seville no longer exists, and the Seville Touring Sedan is ...
... an instant hit with both buyers and long-time critics of the Seville. The Seville Luxury Sedan(SLS) takes over where the Seville left off.

In 1993 the car is labeled as the best, the quickest and the best handling car ever. 1994, the STS is powered by a Northstar engine -- V-8( Cadillac STS engine) with prices starting at $40,990. The Cadillac STS engine offers high performance with the Northstar system. It gives Cadillac what it is looking for in a trademark-the Cadillac STS engine.

1995 brings about a new induction system with sales still strong. 1997 suspension changes are seen and a 1 inch larger front disc brake change has been added. However the car is now being labeled outdated as being compared to cars like the BMW and Lexus. 1998 Cadillac comes to a standstill. People have a love-hate relationship with this car. The overall length of the Cadillac is now 201 inches and much will wider at 62.7 inches. There is no quality to speak of in the car and things start to go wrong.

In 2005 suspension in the car becomes the newest rage, with the Magnetic Ride Control making it known for it being the " fastest reacting susension" and is a very slick looking vehicle. Between the years of 2005 to 2010 cadillac STS engine goes through changes.

Now in 2010, a used Cadillac engine is a piece of history A good used Cadillac engine can be found in any junkyard these days. or in auto repair shops. Give your local repair shop a call and ask them what they have in stock fro a used Cadillac engine. It has been suggested the Cadillac STS Northstar engines should 80,000 or less mileage on them if the user is looking to replace a used cadillac engine.
