The various attributes and performance capabilities that your car has, need to be enjoyed responsibly to be truly fun. For example it does not make sense to drive a car so fast that it becomes a hazard for the driver, the passengers, the other cars on the road and the pedestrians. On the other hand a slow driver on a fast road can also pose risks to the traffic on the road. It is clear that safe and enjoyable driving requires you to have the right performance level.

For the right performance level though one also needs to have the car that can deliver the required performance. Therefore for example if you have a car that is a lively high performance car then it needs to have brakes to match so that if required you can reduce the speed of the car quickly and keep the situation under control. Otherwise if you struggle to control the car at high speeds it will be risky for everyone.

The standard equipment on most cars will have drilled brake rotors as part of their braking system. This is good enough for normal usage of the car. Good quality drilled brake rotors will offer excellent friction generating capability ...
... when the brake pads are pressed against them. At the same time thought they will be able to dissipate the heat generated at the time effectively and the braking system will not over heat easily.

Though if you are into high performance driving or even racing then you need to consider slotted rotors that give even more friction and therefore can stop your car faster. Instead of drilled holes these rotors have slots to help dissipate the heat. That way there is more area available to generate friction and so they give a more powerful braking performance. Of course since there is great area of contact the brake pads tend to wear out faster when they are used along with slotted rotors. Though that may be fine for a person for whom top braking performance is a priority. You should discuss with your car mechanic and opt for the brake rotors that best suit your driving style.
