In recent times with the rapid growth of scientific development in technology, the egg donation technology has made it possible to elude infertility which is a major breakthrough in the medical field and to expand to more options for means of procreation, this has also shove policy makers from advanced societies in the midst of a raging debate that involves several ethical concerns.

Firstly lets see what Egg donation means, it is the process by which a lady provides one or several (sometimes around 8-12) eggs (which is also known as ova, oocytes), the major cause for this donation might be for the purposes of biomedical research or assisted reproduction. For the cause of assisted reproduction purposes, this process of egg donation would involve the process of what is called the in vitro fertilization as these eggs are specially fertilized in the laboratories which are called as IVF Clinic India. In India we have many IVF Clinic, India which are specialized in fertilizing these eggs, as the process of Surrogacy in India is affordable. After these eggs from ...
... the respective Egg Donors have been obtained, the role of the egg donors is complete. The entire process of Egg donation itself is a part of the process known as third party reproduction which is a part of ART popularly known as Assisted Reproductive Technology. There are many regularity authorities who set many stringent guidelines for these procedures; hence the process of Surrogacy is a well regulated process. There are also many boards in countries outside of the US who have there own regulations.

Now lets have a look at the history of the process of Egg Donation. The first known transfer of a fertilized egg from one human to the other which resulted in a successful pregnancy was reported in the year of 1983 in the month of July which subsequently led to the famous announcement of the first egg-donation-produced human birth in the year of 1984, on the 3rd day of February. This first successful procedure was performed at Harbor UCLA Medical Center which was headed under the direction of Dr. John Buster and also by the School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Here in the above procedure, a just beginning to develop fertilized egg was transferred from one woman who was responsible and in whom it had been conceived (these type of women are also known as Egg Donors) by the process called artificial insemination to another woman who had successfully given birth to the infant 38 weeks later. The sperm which was used in the artificial insemination had come from the husband of the woman who had bore the baby.

This very scientific breakthrough had helped established standards and was the key factor in changing the outlook or perception for those who were unable to have children of their own due to infertility or might have been at high risk for passing on a serious genetic disorders. This process of Donor oocytes or egg donors and embryo transfer has had given women a mechanism to become pregnant (and feel privileged to be called as a mother) and give birth to a child who would be their own biological child, but not their genetic child (since the recipient woman carries the baby.) In many processes of Surrogacy cases, a gestational surrogate is used after a thorough medical examination along with thorough mental examinations, and then the embryos are implanted into her, as per a predefined agreement with the recipients. This is very interesting to known that in the process of Surrogacy, Oocyte and embryo donation as it is well practiced today now accounts for nearly 5% of total in vitro fertilization recorded births.
