Wood clogs are a type of wooden footwear traditionally worn by the work men of Europe. It was initially hand crafted for the workmen as they were sturdy and the upper layer really hard. However, it is a fashion statement today.

Clogs are thought to have been originated in Europe and were worn by the manual work men in the olden days. The tough, hard and the sturdy feature was what made the clogs so popular among the workmen and was known as the work men's shoe. The wood used to make the clogs was resistant, durable and did not split. They were made with a special tool that was used to carve out the wood to fit in the feet comfortably. These clogs were traditionally worn bare foot or with the social work socks.

1970's saw the clogs get the limelight in the fashion industry. The era of disco, mini skirts and platforms was accompanied by the modern women's clogs. The comfortable clogs were easy to use as just slip on shoes and the men could not resist it for long. The new trend of the very fashionable clogs is sweeping across the whole of America and Europe. These very trendy hand made clogs come in super high heels and has leather to boot it up.

Swedish Hasbeen was one of the important brands that helped to define the success of clogs. This company was founded by two women in Stockholm when they stumbled upon 300 pairs of clogs of the 1970's. The importantly titled brand saw the success on face when Sarah Jessica parker was of sex and the city 2 was seen wearing the very stylish clogs on the sets. As if to put a point across the clogs were voted to be the most popular fashion trend of the year 2010 over Volvo in Stockholm. These comfortable shoes are definitely to look out for.
