If you have been testing Windows 7 RC on your computer or are considering it, these tips will help you learn about some of the small quirks and neat

thingys that IT certification does and/or can do.
1 Shake away all the extra clutter - This is a neat little item to show off to your co-workers although I'm still not certain about the practical value.

With several items open on your desktop, click-and-drag the title bar of one window and shake it. All other open windows should minimize to the

desktop. If you do it again, all of the windows should return to their previous location.I personally feel it's important just to be aware of this function

so that when a user's windows keep minimizing for no reason, you can have a pretty good guess of what the cause might be.
2 No QuickLaunch Bar - Windows 7 has removed the QuickLaunch bar but added new functionality to the task bar itself. Open any program or window and right

click the program or window icon on the taskbar. Select the option to Pin this program to taskbar Then close the window ...
... or files and you will see that

the icon remains on the taskbar and now behaves as a shortcut to the window or program executable. You can un-pin the icon by right-clicking again.
3 Restoring Labels - The feature mentioned in item 2 can sometimes cause issues with users because taskbar icons no longer have any identifying text by

default. Therefore an open word file icon appears on the taskbar exactly the same as a word program shortcut. The missing text is called labels and can be

restored by:
1 Right-clicking the taskbar and clicking on Properties,
2 Navigate to the Taskbar tab
3 For Taskbar Buttons select either Never Combine or Combine when taskbar is full
4 Click Apply or OK
4 Jump lists - Jump lists work like a recent documents list but are program or window specific and can be a great way to automate your common tasks when used

with pinned taskbar icons. A jump list appears for each icon on your taskbar whenever you right-click on that icon. You can actually pin items to jump

lists by clicking on the small grey pushpins by each item name.If you have recurring websites or radio stations you use, you can pin website names to the

IE7/8 jump list and radio station names to the windows media player jump list.I personally use this with a PowerPoint icon I have pinned to my taskbar. This

way when I go to various client sites and need one of my frequently used shows I just select it from my PowerPoint jump list.
5 The REAL power behind those new file libraries - If you have gone to open a file using Windows explorer, you have probably noticed the buttons for

something called libraries in your window.Libraries are actually very similar to something called Search Folders. MCTS

Certification are folders designed to show the content of multiple folder locations both local and on the network. A pre-made example in Win7 is the

Documents library which actually shows the location of the Documents folder and the Public folder. However, you can easily add as many additional locations

to these libraries as you need and you can also make your own specialized libraries pointing to only the locations you want. This is a very useful to the

right types of users. For example, a web designer has a lot of different content kept in a large number of folders based on particular sites or projects.

The designer would like to be able to have the option to see every image he has without drilling down into the images folder for each website over and over.

The solution is to create a web images library that includes each images folder from each project. This allows the web developer to see every image at

his disposal in one location. The interface is pretty intuitive for libraries but here are a couple facts to be aware of.
1 Libraries are not type specific meaning that any library can display any type of file regardless of type
2 Libraries point to folders not individual files
3 NTFS permissions can still restrict access to protected files even if the containing folder is added to the library
6 Sharing a Library - Now that you are familiar with the concept of the new libraries tool in Windows 7, you still may not be aware that you can share them

with other domain members with relatively little configuration required.Have any library open and click the button near the top of the window that says

Share with and select Specific peopleUsing the standard interface you have had before for file sharing, select other domain users to share the

library with. The real benefit here can be with collaboration. Our example web designer has created her own library pointing to the different folders she

needs access to and at the same time she can now share the library with each of her team members to ensure they have access to the required content as well

without each of them needing to go through the same library configuration steps. In addition, if another folder location needs to be shared, she can simply

add that location to her library and it becomes accessible to everyone who already has access to the library.
7 Search is actually useful - Searching in a library really is a great way to find files now. If you click in the search box of a library window, you will

see several fast options such as searching by type or tags, and if you begin to type your search criteria, you will see that the results update dynamically

as you type. In addition, the search relevance criteria has been improved so that your results appear in a much more logical sequence. This is because now

every folder location in a free Microsoft practice tests is indexed for faster searching.

Personally it looks like we may have arrived at the point where its often more effective to use the search engine than to simply scroll through the list of

files looking for the right one.
