Preschool Toys Help Your Child Develop Important Skills
Preschoolers love to play! They are hardly ever out of energy and are exceptionally adept at playtime and like to discover each toy just to get the feel of it. A child likes to hold a toy and look at it; chew or suck on it; twist it; bang it against other things; smell it; throw it and do many other sensory activities with it.
So, as a parent it's your responsibility to do the research and select the right preschool toys for your child and see how many of the seven senses it can help your child develop. Also, when shopping remember to note the toy manufacturer's age recommendations. Toys are geared towards a certain age group both for safety and developmental reasons.
For instance, little preschoolers love to play with stuffed animals and dolls. They are basically role players: they act as a doll's best friend, mommy, doctor, teacher etc. This helps your child understand that a person's identity determines his actions and attitudes as in a doctor is supposed to cure people. Usually girls like to play with dolls. The dolls that ...
... talk, laugh, cry or even wet their diapers are popular among older preschoolers. Doll houses are also becoming increasingly popular as kids enjoy role playing with their dolls, toy furniture and other household toy appliances.
Little boys love playing with tool sets. They love building blocks and playing with other construction toys. These toys are fun to play and also help your child develop:
Motor skills and hand-eye coordination
Spatial skills
Creative problem-solving skills
Many building block games are best enjoyed when your child play them with his peers. And, of course, to successfully play your child must be able to express himself properly and be cooperative with others. So, building block and other construction toys also help your child develop language and social skills.
Another set of toys i.e. musical toys are also very popular and appeal to preschoolers of all ages. Drum kits, recorders, mini maracas, xylophones, tambourines and triangles plus pianos and keyboards are ideal toys for the preschoolers to play with. In addition to helping children develop fine motor skills and improve hand to eye coordination musical toys also help stimulate their senses as children learn about new sounds by playing with the toys.
