All network professionals can benefit from Network Inventory Management software like NEWT Professional from Komodo Labs . Useful on networks with as few as 25 PCs and a crucial timer-saver for reporting on large networks, PC Auditing has been gaining in popularity for the past several years.

Manual Network Audits are both tedius and time-consuming. Network Inventory software like NEWT make jobs like PC Audits, Computer Audits, PC Inventory, Software Asset Management and general Network Management easier than ever.

For the first three years, NEWT was a 100% agentless application, but the wizards at Komodo Labs later came to the realization that agentless just wasn't cutting it. At the time Agent-less Network Inventory was the preferred choice because agent-based systems required a great deal of upkeep. This gave agent-based methods a bad name, ...
... although there were still benefits to agent systems, including gathering of useful data agentless methods couldn't touch. NEWT Professional makes agentless software a thing of the past by giving users many of the advantages of an agentless solution, while providing many advantages of agents. Don't be fooled by agent-based solutions claiming they're agentless. If they copy files to the remote PC and execute, they're agent-based. NEWT Professional doesn't pretend to be agentless, but Komodo Labs understands the agent stigma and have done a lot to alleviate concerns. One thing was to have an automatic removal by each PC. So even if a machine is disconnected from the network, any NEWT-related software would be removed automatically after a certain number of days. Using this criteria, many competitors would call this agentless. Their new method is up to 50 times faster than competitors, uses less bandwidth and dramatically decreases scan-related errors. Komodo Labs has invested 2 years of R&D to develop this Software Audit technology.

NEWT audits common hardware and software configuration data such as CPU type, computer and monitor serial numbers, memory, operating system, product keys, software inventory, attached storage, printers, etc., but also provides more detailed information not seen in other products. These include CPU temperature, hard drive temperature and type (IDE vs SATA), even detailed RAM module information, including the RAM's manufacturer and serial number. Even the video monitor's display type shown accurately as LCD or CRT. This can be invaluable for planning video monitor upgrades.

A free 25 PC edition is provided as a free download on the Komodo Labs website , almost identical to the purchased edition. This means smaller MSPs (Managed Service Providers) and other organizations with 25 computers or less can use NEWT Professional free of charge - without expiration. A freeware network inventory version is also available.
