My Experience Of Visiting Badrinath Temple

Badrinath temple is situated in a small town of Badrinath that is in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and features high religious importance.
With Alakanada River flowing by the side and a background full of snow clad mountains, Badrinath Temple that is a complete visual retreat. It is one of the most feared pilgrimage sites of “Char Dham” which is the most scared set of pilgrimage sites in Hindu religion. Every year thousands of disciples visit this temple. Situated at the height of 3133 meters above the sea level, this temple is not simple to reach. One has to drive through hilly terrains with risky curves and cliffs to reach the temple. However, this doesn’t deter the disciples from rushing in every year in huge numbers.
When I visited this temple, it was part of my itinerary. I knew the mythological and religious importance of the temple and was very exhilarated to see it for real. I was fazed due to the strenuous trekking from Govindghat to Ghangharia. My legs were ...
... sore and every time I took a step ahead, my mind would struggle between the excitement and the pain. But thinking about the reward of being able to see the most coveted after temple of India I kept moving.
Road to the Badrinath Temple
The journey to this temple commenced as soon as we trekked from our base camp Ghangharia to Govindghat. My legs took some relief as soon as I hopped in the car. We drove through the dangerously curved roads. Often the turns on the hilly roads were completely blind. There is no way you can close the eyes even for a minute while travelling through such roads. Often I could see remaining of land slide on the ditch side of the road.
The debris and the broken rocks on the side of the roads reminded me of different news about the disciples that are stuck due to landslides. That very moment, I felt very lucky to not have faced any adversaries on the roads to this temple. It was just benediction of Lord Vishnu that on the roads that are notorious for accidents and landslides I had a smooth ride.
