Banner advertising is a popular type of online advertising. Banner ads are of image based rather than text-based ads. With this banner advertising there is a great chance of promoting the brand or a business service in order to drive traffic or customers from the hosting website. Static banner ads:
These types of ads come with small piece of text and graphic in one screen image. These ads are supported by many of the browsers, as there file size is small and appear in widely accepted format. But these are not interactive.
Animated banner ads:
This type of banner ads appear with some animation that may be in the form of image or text. These type of banner ads are also low in size and widely accepted. As this ads are animated lot of inflammation can be kept on a single frame. There is a chance of getting visitors to view the ad is more with this kind of ads. These ads are also not interactive and annoying.
Flash ...

Flash ads may include sound, images moving etc. This type of ads are interactive and people will like to watch this kind of ads mostly especially the young ones and they can’t stay out of our eyes. So, most people will prefer to have this kind of ads. Flash ads will be of more informative. As more people watch there is a chance of getting more clicks. Sometime this ads will not be displayed properly as it requires flash player.
Pop-up banner ads:
These are of specific file size which are shown as pop-up windows i.e., they appear in a new window. This ads are generated by java script. This ads may affect the page sometimes but not every time. Newer variants of these types of ads have become quite popular that are not that intrusive. When an advertiser needs to push his product hard, there is nothing better than pop-up banners to get attention. For this reason, these pop-up banners ads are ever popular. No doubt, some marketing professionals and businesses do not like these ads as they believe it interrupts the planned activity of the visitor.
Floating banner ads:
This ads appear in a web page when the user or the visitor opens it and rotates on or around the page for some time. This ads have high clicks but most of the people will feel irritating with this kind of ads.
Rich media banner ads:
This ads are combination of sound, flash, animation, what not all that are designed, with the help of java, flash or shock waves. This ads are more recognized by the viewers and more chances of getting clicks.
