The resultant tax benefits announced as part of the US administration proposal to cut down energy consumption over the years is finally beginning to be fruitful. It is nice to note that the projected peak summer demand for power has declined more than 10 gigawatts every year for the last two years, starting in 2009. A megawatt can power about 1,000 homes and a gigawatt can power about a million homes. With home owners and businesses cutting back heavily on energy usage, the price of that energy for residential users has continued to climb - most recently with fuel prices - every year since 2002, with a 5.7 percent increase in 2008, 2.5 percent in 2009 and a forecast 0.3 percent in 2010, according to EIA.

The increase in price of per unit of power has also played the role of a deterrent in increasing energy consumption. With governments all over the world insisting on greener future and the alteration in production lines towards more environmentally friendly technologies for the future, the end user is also becoming the choices in front and the implication of not making the right choices when it comes to greener technology. ...
... To take advantage of opportunities, electricians will need to ‘green' their skill-set in order to help them fit into their new roles and win a piece of the burgeoning market. Most of the leading electrical contractors and business houses are upgrading the skill set of their technicians and the engineers to meet ‘green' demands.

As much as an electrician service company and technicians need a change of heart in creating a greener tomorrow, so do the end user or the consumer. There are many simple ways to save energy in and around the home, but the best way forward is to make energy saving a daily habit. Insulating the walls, roof, loft, water tank, pipes and floors of your home can make an enormous difference to your heating bills as almost 40% of all heat loss happens through the walls. A depth of at least 25cm of insulation is said to reduce heating bills by about 20%. Instead of putting your machinery and equipment on standby, it would be best to switch off completely and save more energy.

The average household can stand t gain $60 a year simply by leaving appliances on standby. While using a kettle, boil only as much water as you need and never more. Also remember to cover pots and pans when cooking so as to sace power and to let it boil a lot quicker. Defrost your freezer regularly and let your food cool before putting it in the fridge or freezer. Using a microwave rather than a conventional oven to heat up a small portions of food is sure to save you energy.

Washing clothes at 86 degrees can be just as effective for a normally soiled load. As lighting is said to account for more than 40% of the commercial sector's electricity consumption, it makes up nearly 20 percent of all electricity used in the United States. Building owners and homeowners need to adopt energy efficient lamps to light their properties. Not only does this present a great opportunity for electricians, it also presents a great opportunity for us to cut back electricity expenditures.

To find electrician contractors that are qualified for any electrical emergency in the Kansas City area is easy with the KC Metro Business Directory (www.kcmetro.com) who provides a convenient section for local electricians and electrician service
