Despite its benefits, BIM adoption faces a lot of difficulties particularly in areas where trational practices are still prevalent.

● High initial cost: The cost of shifting from traditional practice to BIM can be very high, especially for small and medium-level firms. The cost of software, hardware, and training for the staff can add up to make a large sum.

● Lack of professionals: Since BIM is not that common as a tool, especially in developing countries like India, there is a lack of professionals in the field. The software used in BIM is fairly complex and can be very difficult to learn without proper training or coaching for the same.

● Data management: Since BIM relies completely on a digital database and stores everything digitally, there is always a threat to data from malware or viruses. Moreover, the data generated throughout the process can require robust storage and security solutions.

Future of BIM
It is a fact that the future of BIM will be even more transformative as emerging technologies integrate with it. AI will automate tasks such as clash detection, design suggestions, etc.
BIM can help in energy optimization in an efficient way as resource efficiency and sustainability have become a global priority. Global standardisation of BIM will undoubtedly improve as implementation and adoption of BIM are increasing all across the industry. With increased use and adoption of BIM in the industry, the software and hardware will surely be more affordable for small and medium-level firms.
