Organic Anti-Aging Beauty Products
While all skin types are enhanced by the use of organic cosmetics, the mature skin is probably most in need of organic anti-aging beauty products than any other skin type.
As one ages the skin deteriorates due to many reasons. Some, such as genetic programming, hormonal changes, and gravity are beyond our control. But we can manage others such as sleeping position, diet, smoking, sun exposure, and stress. The results of all these assaults on our skin are wrinkles, age spots, visible veins, loss of elasticity, and thin skin.
One of the primary health factors of aging skin is UV sun exposure. Our skin contains melanocytes. These are the cells in our body that produce melanin. In a young person these cells are "turned off." Then when that person is exposed to sunlight, the cells turn on and an even color or tan is produced. Once out of the sun, the cells turn back off. But over a period of time, the repeated exposure damages these cells and some of them no longer turn off. When this happens, age spots appear.
Age spots are also associated with aging even more so than ...
... wrinkles. You will often see young people in their 30s with expression lines around their eyes, a furrow or two between their brows or a couple of fine smile lines. But you never see age spots on younger people.
And when we are young the collagen in our skin is evenly distributed. This causes light to reflect through our skin giving it a natural glow. But as we age, the collagen gradually incurs damage as a result of continued UV sun exposure and the light is scattered. When this happens, our skin is no longer transparent and now appears dull.
As we age the PH of our skin surface increases. This increase makes us more susceptible to infections. And the lipid content of our skin also decreases, which lessens the effectiveness to many topical medications that might be used to treat infections.
So it is crucial that we do not apply cosmetics that can further damage our skin. Yet many mainstream products contain chemicals that are harmful to the mature skin. These include parabens, alcohol and mineral oil.
Parabens are known to have toxic effects on some people. Alcohol dehydrates the skin resulting in additional wrinkling. Mineral oil prevents the skin from breathing thereby causing toxins to be trapped within the skin cells. On the other hand, organic anti-aging products have no harmful ingredients that will increase skin damage. They are blended from plant products that have been used for centuries of skin care. They can be used with confidence whereas with mainstream products, it is difficult to tell what the ingredients are. Alcohol and mineral oil may be recognizable but parabens masquerade under many different names.
One of the most noticeable characteristics of a young skin is the youthful glow. According to some dermatologists the dullness of aging skin, just like age spots, makes one appear older than wrinkles do. Organic anti-aging beauty products protect the skin from collagen damage and help maintain that glow.
