The credit crunch has placed unwelcome restrictions on the traditional holiday jaunts that usually take place over the happy summer months of June, July and August. This year, many people are finding that the expendable income usually used on summer holidays simply is not there to be spent at the moment. As they say, however, a change is as good as a rest, and you need not venture abroad to feel refreshed as long as you change your scenery somehow.

Those who like to keep active on holiday are sure to be impressed by the range of watersports available in Aberdeen. From surfing to jetskiing, there are all kinds of sporting facilities available that are sure get your heart beating and the adrenaline flowing.

Aberdeen is also a great place in which to catch a spot of live music. Recently added to its already eclectic range of venues, Moshulu is a chic place to sit back and chill out for a few hours. You can enjoy the dulcet tones of the regular local bands who perform here at least once or twice a week, or check the schedule online to find out what special events could be coming up.

Music and art buffs alike ...
... are sure to appreciate the laid back style of Musa Music and Art Caf? . Part caf?, part gallery, part live music venue, this is where the coolest culture vultures come to hang out on a rainy weekend, and at most other times.

If you want a cool place to simply kick back and chill out then Musa Music and Art Caf? is sure to be the place for you. Art lovers will enjoy exploring the innovative gallery here, music lovers are sure to appreciate the small performances ? usually jazz or chamber music ? that regularly grace the stage and gastronomists will appreciate the creative flair of the menu, from an eclectic array of coffees and cakes, through to main meals and an array of sweet treats.

Crathes, Drum and Dunottar Castles are all within 30 minutes of Aberdeen, making it a great base for a historical Scottish holiday and each of these properties also features extensive, cultivated grounds ? the perfect setting for an afternoon stroll on a clear and sunny summer''s afternoon. Bonny Kominek wrote this article after a recent journey to Aberdeen with Octopus Travel, and would recommend them when searching for Aberdeen hotels.
