How I Launched My First Music Album Without Any Experience, Thanks To Ai
The Spark of an Idea
The idea began with a simple desire: play a little further with poems I’ve written that had potential to become songs. Music has always been a source of inspiration for me, and I wanted to create something that could offer the same to others. As you imagine, the technicalities of music production were foreign to me. I had the vision but not the skills — until I discovered the transformative potential of AI in the music industry.
Embracing AI Tools
AI technology has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in creative fields. From visual design to content creation, AI has become a valuable tool for professionals across various domains. I’ve already mastered Midjourney and have been creating images for a while. When I learned about AI-powered music production tools, I realized I could leverage them to bring this project to life.
Finding Inspiration in Poetry
The songs in Quiet Revolutions were directly inspired by poems from my book, Behold: Life Beyond Grief. These poems reflect my journey through infertility, providing a rich foundation ...
... for the music. Using Suno AI, I experimented with finding melodies that would align with the message of each poem. Suno allowed me to translate my written words into musical compositions, creating a seamless blend of poetry and melody.
The Creative Process
Using AI, I began experimenting with different sounds and compositions. I would input my preferences and listen to the generated pieces, tweaking them until they resonated with the emotions I wanted to convey. It was a lot of trial and error, but also a lot of fun! Suno provided a collaborative experience, allowing me to iterate quickly and explore various musical ideas without the steep learning curve traditionally associated with music production.
Adding a Personal Touch
While AI handled the technical aspects of music creation, I focused on infusing the compositions with personal meaning. The lyrics were drawn from my own experiences and reflections on infertility and empowerment. However, with the exception of one song, People Mean Well, the album offers inspiration to anyone open to the lyrics, as they are not directly speaking about infertility.
I chose female voices for all the songs, since I couldn’t sing them myself, and I have to say that I’m quite happy with the results.
Organizing and Distributing with LANDR
Once the songs were ready, I used LANDR to organize the information before the release. LANDR was a huge help in distributing the album, making the entire process smooth and efficient. This platform enabled me to manage everything from mastering the tracks to releasing them on various streaming services.
Overcoming Challenges
Of course, the journey was not without its challenges. There were moments of doubt and frustration, particularly when trying to balance the AI’s output with my creative vision. However, these challenges were part of the learning process, helping me understand how to better use the technology and refine my approach.
Launching Quiet Revolutions
After one month of experimentation and refinement, Quiet Revolutions was ready for the world. The songs are not perfect, and I will never be a musician, but it makes me very happy that with some strategy and creativity, I was able to launch a project that otherwise would have required thousands of dollars years ago. It satisfied my desire to create a music album myself. Although nothing replaces humans telling their stories through music, my story is also important, and I’m happy I could tell it my own way.
Launching a music album without any prior experience seemed daunting at first, but AI made it possible. The technology allowed me to bypass traditional barriers and focus on creative expression. I know that many are against this, but it’s very exciting to see AI democratizing creative fields and enabling anyone with a vision to bring their ideas to life.
What’s Next?
AI might get even better in a year or two, and projects like this might become popular. As for me, I learned some new skills and would love to work with artists who need brand strategy and graphic design skills for an upcoming project. Launching Quiet Revolutions was not just about creating music; it was about using technology to amplify personal stories and connect with others on a profound level. I look forward to exploring more ways in which AI can enhance creativity and mindfulness in my work and beyond.
The album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube Music and Amazon Music.
