Planning ...
... Your Gorilla Trek

When going for Uganda gorilla trekking, one has to do so through a recommended tour operator. Each of the Bwindi gorilla families can only be visited by 8 tourists at a given day. It is recommended to book early because the permits cost $300 and come with one hour with the gorillas.

The trek itself, which is no walk in the park, can take up to seven days. The climbing is rugged and slippery all through as one toils over steep slopes, undergrowths, and vines. The trek could take as little as 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours, this depends on the location of the gorilla family on any particular day. However any challenge is well erased the moment one sets his/her sights on the glamorous gorillas.

There are a number of things that any person who is planning to go trekking gorillas should expect to encounter.

● Stay 7 meters away from them and do not get close to them in order to avoid contracting the disease.

● It is also important to ensure that noise levels in a healthcare facility are kept to a minimum.

● Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking guides should decide which gorillas should be trekked as their safety is paramount.

● Photography is permitted and in case it is done with flash, this is prohibited.

● Avoid face to face eye contact with gorillas prior to sneezing or coughing.

The behaviors are realistic like those of human beings which will make you wonder. Depending on the location of the gorilla trekking you will get to see young gorillas playing, a Silverback considering his territory and a female gorilla with her young ones.
