First Day Of The Everest Base Camp Trek
The first day of the Everest Base Camp Trek schedule starts with a quick flight to Lukla. The flights are available from Ramechhap (Manthali) and Kathmandu. The trek to Phakding starts when you arrive at Tenzing-Hilari Airport and start trekking. It's a quick day hike that is primarily on a trail that descends.
Once your hiking gear has been checked out of the airport, you can spend a little while getting ready for your hike and getting hot drinks at one location in Lukla. You then take a fifteen-minute walk around the town. After entering through the Pasang Lhamu Sherpa gate at the end of Lukla, you descend for five minutes and receive an entry ticket into the National Park and a Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality access ticker.
Following the legal formalities, you descend for an additional thirty minutes to reach the pleasant Sherpa town of Chheplung in the Khumbu Region. You can witness other religious monuments, the Buddhist prayer wheel, prayer flags, and Mane Walls with Buddhist mantras while strolling through Chheplung. Also seen is a spotless ...
... monastery perched atop a large cliff. When following the trekking track, keep the Buddhist monuments to your right and remember to go in a clockwise direction.
After passing through Chheplung Village, the trail descends further towards Thadokoshi. Lower left down the valley, you'll notice the white Dudhkoshi River, and from Thadokoshi, you may enjoy stunning views of Mt. Kusum Kangaroo. You may see Mt. Dudhkunda and Kongde up ahead and to the left before you see Kusum Kangaroo.
After ten minutes of walking on a level section and crossing a small iron bridge in Thadokoshi, you will come to a climbing route. After five minutes of descent, you arrive in Ghat Village and spend the next thirty minutes strolling along a track that gradually ascends. On top of Ghat Village, you can observe a Buddhist monastery, Mani Walls, Stupa, Prayer Wheel, and Mani Rocks. You now descend for a further ten minutes, walk for thirty minutes on a level section, and then begin a thirty-minute walk to Phakding on a track that progressively ascends. You stay in Phakding for the first night of the Everest Base Camp Trek today.
Today, the walk from Lukla to Phakding takes between two and a half and three hours. Not just trekkers heading for Everest Base Camp, but also those heading for Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lakes, Everest Three High Passes, Gokyo Lakes, Renjo La Pass, Everest View Treks, Peak Climbing, and expedition walks that start here on the first day after departing from Kathmandu.
