Introduction

There are several bikes that have stood the test of time. One of them was the Yamaha RX-100, and today, it is the R15 V4. The new generation bike is the new flagship model that the bike manufacturer can compete with successfully in the market.

It is quite obvious from the sales figures. The Indian market seems to have a liking for this bike, from the looks of it. Moreover, if you are a bike enthusiast, then you will be delighted to know that the bike was first launched in India, before anywhere else in the world.

Is the bike too hot to handle? Let us read to find out.

Comfort & design

The comfort & design of the R15 V4 are opulent. There is no better word to describe the feeling the moment you sit on the bike. You feel as if you are seated on a race bike. The major drawback in the V3 model was the plastics that were considerably used here & there.

It diminished the product of what was an otherwise decent bike model in the market. It is heartening to know that Yamaha has worked on that ...
... aspect, and provided new, high-quality materials in this model.
As we said earlier, the moment you sit in the cockpit, you feel as if you are seated on a premium bike model that costs more than 10 lakhs. Users have commended the black plastics, as they are exceptionally well made and the buttons feel top-notch as well.

At the front, you can find that the bike comes with twin LED DRLs that have the projector headlamp infused in there. There are more creases on this model that help you enjoy the bike’s aerodynamics.

The seating is good, at 815mm. But the fuel tank is quite narrow, you may feel kind of low when you are seated. However, the rear passenger may have issues during long rides. You can use only the tail scoops to hold on.

The handlebars come wider and lower, which gives you a solid grip on them. The footpegs are placed higher up for a compact ride. We were surprised to note that the rear section is quite crisp, giving this model a completely new avatar.

Ride handling

With the help of the assist & slipper clutch, you can reduce the weight of the clutch pull. This helps the bike to experience a low-stress shift when you want to accelerate it. Besides, it enables you not to feel tired when you are travelling long distances.

Likewise, there is excessive engine braking avoided. This helps with the durability of the chassis as well. It helps you to enjoy a smooth, enjoyable downshift. The Quick Shifter enables you to drive in a clutchless shift of gears.

This helps in enhancing the comfort when you are driving long distances, as you do not need to use the clutch when you want to change the gears.

Engine performance

We will read about the Yamaha R15 V4 Specification. The engine is a phenomenal liquid-cooled single overhead one. It also comes with a camshaft fuel injection that can help you rev a max power of 13.5kW(18.4PS)/10000r/min.
Besides, you will be delighted to know that it also comes with the latest traction control system that is also present on most of their mopeds. This enhances the safety of the riders. It is a pretty useful feature, especially during the rains, and wet season, when two-wheelers are prone to skidding.

Like most of their bikes, this one too comes with enough juice to make it rev as much as you can. You can find that there is a Delabox frame having 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm. The VVA becomes active, once the bike revs over the 7000rpm.
You can hit more than 140km/h effortlessly. You will be delighted to know that the bike comes with a Bluetooth-enabled LCD screen. Moreover, you can pair it to your smartphone using the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect app.

Using that, you can receive calls, and get SMS, and email alerts. There is a ‘Track’ mode as well. With the full-LED headlamp setup, the headlight has a decent throw. However, the spread is lacking.

Should You Get One?

When you are in search of a bike that can give you the thrills, then it is this one. The bike comes with numerous features that are hard to get in the same price range. Besides, it comes with a decent 11-litre fuel tank that can take you more than 500 kms on a single tank.

Conclusion

The company has made several changes to the new R15 V4 model that we read about. The design, comfort, and engine performance were superb. For once, we can say that you can’t expect more from a bike for the price range of under 2 lakhs in India.

You can also find that it is a feature-rich bike model that can easily compete with models that are double its cost. The bike can be more than a city motorcycle for you. Moreover, when you are learning how to ride a two-wheeler, then this is definitely a worthy investment.
