Reliable Ibm Lto-4 T1600p Backup Tape Drive Allows Flexible Host Attachment
The valuable business data is vulnerable to the threats including natural disasters, viruses, unintentional data deletions, software/hardware malfunction and unauthorized data access. Shrinking backup windows and exploding data storage demands has put enormous pressure on the backup media manufacturing companies to deliver high performance storage solutions.
The world's leading enterprises count on the economical data storage solutions offered by the well renowned LTO (linear tape open) format. IBM T1600P tape drive is the culmination of superior innovation and technical experience in backup storage products. This high capacity drive represents LTO-4 tape version. IBM has added new exclusive features to its T1600P LTO4 drive that helps to handle the backup challenges faced by the data administrators today. T1600P drive is the optimal tape solution for data rich applications, departmental servers, network servers, larger databases, data mining, mid-range servers and public organizations.
T1600P LTO-4 drive offers high performance technologies that increase the capacity, reliability and output characteristics ...
... over the prior generation LTO-3 drives. T1600P drive reliably writes 800 GB data on IBM LTO-4 tape in un-compressed mode. IBM has employed a 16-channel read/write head in its LTO-4 drive to double the data transfer rate and also provide backward compatibility with previous 2 generations. LTO ultrium-2 tapes are read-compatible. LTO3 and LTO4 backup tapes are read & write compatible. So with intelligently designed T1600P LTO-4 drive, you are provided with greater flexibility to use multiple generations of LTO ultrium tapes.
For faster backups and high density storage, the transfer speed of drive has been significantly raised to 120 Mbps (un-compressed). The linear density also has been enhanced by 31% to improve the output frequency and efficiency. Improvement in linear density coupled with 16-channel head provides superb performance and exceptional integrity.
IBM T1600P drive provides new AES data encryption mechanism which assists the data managers to address the data protection concerns. Data encryption system enables the storage of encrypted data on to the LTO-4 ultrium tape, and allows the users to safely transport and store their priceless data. Top selling brands of LTO-4 are:
IBM LTO-4 ultrium tapes
95P4450, 95P4436
Imation LTO4 tapes
26592, 26596
Fuji LTO-4 tape
26247007
Dell LTO4 storage tapes
341-4647, 341-4640
HP ultrium LTO-4
C7974A
Maxell LTO4 backup tapes
183907, 183906
Sony LTO-4 tape
LTX800G
LTO-4 T1600P drive has an advanced threader and tape loader system that is very useful in recovering the errors during media loading and unloading. IBM's exclusive servo positioning system is precision-engineered to reliably perform read and write functions with superior integrity. The 16-channel head closely packs the information on the narrow data tracks to enhance the cartridge capacity. As compared to LTO-3, the track density of IBM LTO-4 cartridge has been enhanced by 27%.
Electronic components of the T1600P drive have been redesigned to reduce its overall power consumption and make it more energy-efficient. Power failures can abruptly stop the tape movement and cause media wear & tear. IBM has devised a new solution called dynamic braking that gradually decelerates the tape movement and as a result helps to prevent loose tape wraps and tape stretching.
