Italy is a country that can offer various types of charcuterie depending on the meat and the region.
If you look at salami for instance, you will see that it exists many different types of salami depending on the area of Italy you are in.
The salami Napoletano that comes from Naples is usually made from pork mixed with fat and peperoncino. Experts in the field say that this salami has a sweet and apparently strong flavor.

Probably one of the most well known Italian salami, this salami is made from the same percentage of minced pork and lean beef, to which they add pepper, garlic and also white wine. This type of charcuterie is said to have sweet and aromatic flavours and is usually a bit less peppery than other Italian salamis.

Even if a lot of people outside of Italy use it to add flavour to a dish, most people in Parma and in Italy serve it on its own usually sliced very thin and enjoy it as an appetizer.
It exist other types of cured meat like proscuitto Di San Daniele which comes from a small village in the foothill of the Apls. This prosciutto usually is sweeter and darker than Parma ham.

It exist many other different types of ham in Italy so we will not go through all of them, but next time you visit Italy, go to local shops from time to time to see if you can buy some local ham and other types of local Italian food.
